  fredthebear: 26.Qg4 threatens a decisive Qxg7+. So Black swaps queens and gives up the exchange, which looks rather odd but prevents Qxg7+. Pawn promotion in the final position would lead to an exchange of the last of the heavy pieces. Then the White king is much better placed for the pawn ending, and White has the queenside candidate passer. It's an easy ending for White, so Black appropriately resigned.
