Chessical: An attractive attack by Leonhardt, using the suppposedly modern idea of: <Kg1/Rg1 and then g4>.

Meiners could have survived with <25...Rf6!> 26.R6g3 Qf5 27.Qxf5 Rxf5 28.Rg8+ Rxg8 29.Rxg8+ Kh7 =; which would seem to indicate that White may have an even better method of conducting the attack.

An Englishman: Good Evening: Not often does one see a game where the first and last moves are both e4!

Leonhardt must have been a die-hard Romantic. As such, he could hardly be content with playing his favorite opening move only once in a game if any choice existed.

LOL! Nice vision.

Aug-17-13  psmith: <Chessical> Rybka comes up with "an even better method of conducting the attack," namely 22.Rxg6! Bxg6 23. Nfxg6+ fxg6 24. Nxg6+ Kg7 25. Nf4+ Kh8 26. dxe5 .

kevin86: If black takes the queen-white will treat it as a sacrifice and mate at h6.As is,the rook must leave the queen's protection or be lost-so black is...
Aug-17-13  CapitanJowy: Beautiful Giuoco Piano game.
Aug-17-13  waustad: <Englishman>Actually I suspect 1.) e4 with black forfeiting as a no show is probably rather common, but that is obviously not what you meant. Perhaps this Salad gets Italian Dressing.
