Kibitzer's Corner
May-30-04  Procopius: Despite all the hype about players like Polgar and Menchik, modern chess players have forgotten the story of the Royal Game's first gentleman-hacker, who seems to have been the husband of Wilfred Paulsen, frere Louis. Anyhow, for the benefit of, a picture of her can be found at In this game, she has a strong sense of tactical resourcefulness (or calculation? [winks]) when she lets Wilfred take the center, all the while ensnaring his monarch. White may have had better alternatives throughout the game, but that does not tarnish her play in the least.
Aug-04-08  alshatranji: What a chaotic game.
