Feb-19-08  Tomlinsky: How you can actually lose 2 points in GTM for a move-order preference of 6...cd 7...Nge7 is baffling to say the least.
Mar-01-11  aniceto: Between moves 25-27 White opens the h and g files for Black's rooks. Why?

  plang: 10 h4!? was a relatively new idea at the time; Gurevich innovated with a speculative piece sacrifice with 10..f6!? and 11..Nfxd4. 14 gxf..gxf 15 Nxe5..fxe 16 Bh5+..Ke7 17 Bg5+..Kd6 would have been strong for Black. Gurevich was critical of 24 Qg3?! recommending 24 Bxh7..Bb5 25 Rf2..d4 with an unclear position. 32 Bxf5..Bxf5 33 Rxf5..Rh1+ would not have helped Black. Black would have remained in control after 32..exf 33 Qxf4+..Ka8 34 Bg2..R3h4..

Voted the best game in Informant 78. The piece sacrifice has been played successfully in a few games since but Psakhis in his book on the Advance French thinks that White can defend better (though he does not say how).
