Kibitzer's Corner
May-23-05  soberknight: A well-known opening with a beautiful ending. I'm not sure where White went wrong. If 23 Qxa8 Bc5+ 24 Kh1 Bh3, or 24 Kf1 Qxd2 and mates.
Sep-22-05  offramp: This is the game that made Milwaukee famous.
Oct-11-06  Castle In The Sky: Go Iowa!
Oct-11-06  thesonicvision: <I'm not sure where White went wrong.>

14.dxe5?
if white's gonna castle in the Fried
Liver, he best use the kingside rook
to control the f-file.

i'm thinking...

14. fxe5 threatening Qf5+
if Ne6 after Qf5+,
Nxd5 cxd5 Bxd5

FSR: Nice defensive play for 1876.
Jul-09-12  master of defence: < If 23 Qxa8 Bc5+ 24 Kh1 Bh3, or 24 Kf1 Qxd2 and mates>. After 23. Qxa8 Bc5+ 24. Kf1 Qxd2 25.Qxb7+ could draw, i think.
Oct-21-14  JTV: The Fried Liver attack should be obsolete by now because 1. e4 e5 2. Bc4 Nf6 3. Nf3 is dealt with by 3...Nxe4! Let's say that white continues with 4. d3 Nf6, then 5. Ng5 is foolish because black can counter attack the bishop by playing d5! Go ahead and fork me with that Knight...
Jan-12-15  GoldenBird: <JTV> The main way to get into a fried liver attack these days is 1.e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4.Ng5 when d5 is met with 5. exd5 and Nxd5?! is incredibly risky. White would gain an advantage with the safe lolli variation 6. d4! exd4 7. O-O. Or play for an attack with 6. Nxf7

  patzer2: <Joshka> If 12. Qxe5+, then 12...Kf7 (-0.80 @ 27 depth, Stockfish 251115).
