  Chessical: An extremely theoretical game. McShane's <21...Rac8> seems to be a question of moving the wrong R with disasterous results. After:

<21...Rdc8> there is a long forcing sequence similar to the game:

<22.Qa1> Qxa1 23.Rxa1 Rxc7 24.dxc7 Bxc5 25.Rc1 Nd7 26.Ba6 Bb6 27.Bb7 Rf8 28.c8Q Rxc8 29.Rxc8+ Kg7; but 21...Rdc8 22.Qa1 Qxa1 23.Rxa1 Rxc7 24.dxc7 Bxc5 25.Rc1 Nd7 26.Ba6 Bb6 27.Bb7 Rf8 28.c8Q Rxc8 29.Rxc8+ Kg7;

with a N+P for a R, a passed a pawn for Black, and with opposite coloured B's.

If this is the best Black can obtain, he needs an improvement earlier in the opening.

Aug-05-04  jeffnool: 21...Rdc8 is correct i guess...
Sep-01-04  jeffnool: looking back at the game i think 17...Ne5 has more sense...
Sep-01-04  jeffnool: crafty can you show me some variation on move 17... thanks...
