  WTHarvey: Fwiw, 36.Rf8+ is a mate in 2.
Sep-07-07  mrbiggs: Bd7 would also be stronger, as the rook couldn't just take the pawn. (It's the difference between a rook and a queen and a rook, so either is winning, but I don't see why Paulsen would make one of the weakest winning moves.)
Jul-27-09  sneaky pete: 36.Rf8+ .. would have been # in 2 only if the game score were correct, but it isn't. In the diagrammed position

white played 23.Rfe1 .. (correction submitted).

If 23.Rce1? .. had been played, black would win a second pawn after 23... a5 24.Qf2 Ba6 25.Nd4 Na3, without much risk it seems.
