samvega: Anybody know about this event? I see three other games from this event, which appears to be a simul with GM opponents. Did not know such events existed. Did any of the other world champions ever give such simuls?

Anyway, this is an unusual game... interesting.

<Vladimir Kramnik played a clock simul against the German national team at the Centro Dannemann in Brissago (Switzerland). His opponents were Christopher Lutz, Rustem Dautov, Robert Hübner and Klaus Bischoff. Kramnik defeated Dr. Hübner and drew the other three games.>

<percyblakeney> links to information about a similar Kasparov vs Czech Team event, and Kasparov also once took on the Israelis successfully in 1998 in what he describes as no less than <probably my greatest accomplishment in my professional chess career>.

See Mig's interview at http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail...

<I personally believe the two days I played the best if you add up all the components, was against the Israeli national team in Tel Aviv in 1998.

If you look at the combined performance I don’t think anything even comes close to that. I manage to play in two matches in a row, four games by 2800 standards at the same time. The level of concentration and precision and the power of the games were outstanding.>

samvega: Thanks for the link, <acirce>. Chessgames has four games listed as "ISR-Kasparov handicap":

Kasparov vs Huzman, 1998
Huzman vs Kasparov, 1998
Kasparov vs Smirin, 1998
Smirin vs Kasparov, 1998

If they are the event Kasparov is refering to, how strange that none are kibited!

I also noticed reading thru the link that Kasparov is very dismissive of the suggestion that many of his games involved home prep...
