Nov-27-12  wordfunph: "An amazing thing happens in this game. Gligorich, one of the world's leading opening theoreticians, makes a fatal error with the white pieces on move ten. Gligorich is thrown on the defensive and never recovers."

- GM Larry Evans

  OhioChessFan: Both sides missed 21...b3+ 22. axb3 axb3+ 23. Bxb3 Rdb8 and White's King is in a world of hurt.

Jul-04-14  jerseybob: OhioChessFan: Can you demonstrate a forced win out of that line? Black has a solid positional edge here, with a game that almost plays itself.
Jul-04-14  RookFile: I would have played 10. a3. If black wants to cede the dark squares with ...Bxc3, why stop him?
Jul-04-14  jerseybob: RookFile: That's certainly better than what white played. I've got a feeling black's reply would've been 10..Bd6, aiming at e5. I'd probably just go 10.0-0
Jul-09-14  RookFile: 10. a3 Bd6 11. Ne4 is interesting.

Now, 11....Bc7 shows another feature of 10. a3 - namely white can play Bb4.

Maybe black plays 11...Nxe4 12. Qxe4 White may be slightly better.

Jul-09-14  jerseybob: RookFile: This line is covered in Opening Explorer up to 10..Bd6. Your move 11.Ne4 isn't covered; they only give 11.00,e5 12.Ne4,Ne4 13.Qe4,Nf6 14.Qh4,e4 15.Ne5, but after your move 11.Ne4,Ne4 12.Qe4,e5 13.00 would now transpose, though maybe white could vary on 13.
