Jun-10-08  TheKingOfSpades: Nice game for Larsen! Can someone tell me why 12. Bxe3 is a bad move for white here? It seems like it might keep damage to a minimum.
Sep-12-10  TheTamale: <King>, Bxe3 does thwart the upcoming fork, but Black simply trades queens and is up the exchange and a pawn.
Mar-04-18  TheTamale: Huh, I no longer understand the comment I left 7.5 years ago.

fredthebear: <TheTamale> Your first comment makes sense to me for 13.Bxe3.

Thus, 13.BxNe3 (instead of 13.QxQa1) does thwart the upcoming Nxc2+ fork, but Black simply trades queens 13...QxQc1+ 14.BxQc1 and is up the exchange and a pawn.

To summarize, White will be worse after 12.Bxe3 or 13.Bxe3 with both queens off the board. When Black is Bent Larsen, that's a resignation.
