IMlday: Back in the early '60s I loved Vasiukov games. Very creative! But the Soviet authorities kept him on a short leash. Maybe they worried he would defect?

keypusher: Quite possible, but I think to play in "the West" Soviet GMs had to be absolutely world class back then. I know Vasiukov served as Korchnoi's second at Sousse in 1967.

IMlday: Vasyukov was also Taimanov's second against Fischer at Vancouver 1971. He and Duncan Suttles played much speed chess in the analysis room.
May-29-13  Everett: Vasiukov had a unparalleled liking for the KID/KIA system, even moreso than Bronstein. Even now, he tortures others GMs with it.

Vasiukov vs L Lederman, 2013

Larsen here is in dire straits when he blunders into mate with his 34th. <34.Re8> is better, and though worse his position is not so easy to crack.
