tamar: Van Wely was doomed to sleep in the streets after 14...Ne7?, so he grabs the worthless b2 pawn with his queen later just to make if official.
Jan-22-05  Akavall: An awesome game by Svidler, nice comeback after yesterday's disaster.
Jan-22-05  csmath: Nothing awesome here, Svidler got it back exactly the same way he lost yesterday, by a blunder by an opponent that forgot there is an open line shooting at him. This is exactly the same way Svidler blundered yesterday. So in a way fair justice for Peter.
Jan-22-05  erasmus: On the dutch teletekst, Svidler says about his game: "My 10. Qe1 was new. The advantage above the common 10. f3 is that black can't relieve the pressure by trading queens and that put Loek van Wely a bit off. I don't know what it is, yesterday I was done for in less than 30 moves and now Loek. It has to be very contagious. Loek's 12.- h5 was a mistake and with 14.- Ne7 it only got worse. 14.- Qd4+ 15. Kh1 Qxc4 would have been black's best option. When he didn't play this it soon was over."
