Jan-24-05  Abaduba: Why is this drawn? Are the players just too chicken to play it out, or are there actually no winning chances in a seemingly complicated position?
Jan-24-05  acirce: There are more alternatives than that. Have you played in a supertournament some time? Although looking at the position itself there was every reason for White to play on. Some analysis at http://www.chesscenter.com/twic/eve...

lostemperor: There is some comotion why this game is drawn. Although post-mortem analysis showed Adams could play on, during the game the players thought that black, if not equal was slightly better because of the bishoppair. Svidler comments right after the game: 21.Qxf7+ Kh8 22.Nf4 Nxf4 23.Rxf4 maybe white is getting something still. That's why I took the draw'.
Jan-24-05  tud: 21Qf7Kh8 22Nf4Re7 ?
Jan-24-05  tud: 22Ra7 !

benveniste: <tud> 22. Ra7 is met by Bb7, effectively costing white a tempo.
