Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-13-06  Mating Net: This game is a fine example of taking what your opponent gives you. The first thing Black decides to gift to White, is the d6 square with 8...Bc5?! Capa takes advantage, maneuvers his Knight, and drops the stallion in the heart of Black's camp with 11.Nd6. After the beast is captured, he recaptures with 12.Qxd6. Suddenly the d6 square gift turns into the entire d file gift after 13.Rfd1.

Why stop there, Black is still in the giving mode. How about some material? After 14.Bxf6 Black plays 14...Bxg2? and Capa adroitly exploits this move with 2 clever zwischenzugs, 15.Qxb8! and 16.Be5! knowing that, at a minimum, he wins the exchange. How many of us would have automatically recaptured our fianchettoed Bishop with 15.Kxg2? I know I would have. White is still much better after the "automatic" Bishop recapture, but Capa finds a way to have a won game with a dash of clever tactics.

Black's gifts still had to be exploited, they weren't flat out blunders, but I'm sure it was pretty easy for Capa to do so.

Aug-29-06  CapablancaFan: 16. Be5! Oh no!(Black's mental response after that move.)
Aug-29-06  THE pawn: 1.e4! Oh no!(Black's mental response after that move.)

Hell, he was black against capablanca.
