Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-07-06  Autoreparaturwerkbau: One of earliest queen traps, i suppose :)
Jan-07-06  Georgie Dubb: White queen trapped within, black queen trapped outside !

No reason to resign, Mr. de Beaurevoir.

For example:

11. ...♕g4+ 12.♗e2 ♕g6 13.♖f1 ♗g7 14.♖f5 ♗xh8 15.♖g5 advantageous for white

or

11... ♕g4+ 12. ♗e2 ♕xg2 13. ♖f1 ♗g7 14. ♖f2 ♕g1+ 15. ♖f1 ♕g2 16. ♖f2 ♕g6 17. ♖f5 ♗xh8 18. ♖g5 ♗g7 19. ♖xg6 drawish

Jan-07-06  radu stancu: As Georgie said, it's not a black win here. And if white had played 11. Be2 he would have had a winning position.
Jan-08-06  Georgie Dubb: <radu stancu> I don’t see a winning position for white after 12. Be2.

Black can obtain a draw by repetition with
12. ♗e2 ♕xg2 13.♖f1 ♗g7 14.♖f2 ♕g1+ 15.♖f1 ♕g2 16.♖f2 ♕g1+ 17.♖f1 ♕g2 ½–½

It seems white can only avoid this by playing
13.♖e1 ♗g7 14.♕xg7 ♕xg7 which should make black feel good.

This game ended when it started to become quite funny, too bad.

Jan-08-06  radu stancu: <Georgie Dubb> That's because you're right, there isn't one. I was talking about 11.Be2, not 12.Be2. Cheers. :)
Jul-26-09  just a kid: I think White died at the board.
Aug-05-09  Yodaman: White resigned while up a rook? He could have event taken a knight with his queen and only be down 1 point! I wouldn't resign so early in a game with a 5 point lead.
Sep-10-12  Abdel Irada: After the text or even <radu stancu>'s improvement 11. ♗e2, the White queen isn't leaving h8 anytime soon. I haven't examined all the variations, but it seems to me that Black can castle and combine threats, eventually either winning the queen or mating, thanks to his having a queen in play while White doesn't.

Ultimately, then, I think the outcome will be the same: "Au revoir, monsieur De Beaurevoir."

Feb-08-13  drleper: <Abdel Irada> Actually white's resources here are pretty amazing. 9...Bf8? is a blunder. A decent engine will show that 11.Be2 wins, while 11.d3 leads to a draw with best play.
Apr-17-13  captdad12: Interesting game! Resignation surprised me.
I was expecting Be2 to block the queen.
Jan-05-18  ramanaji dhulipati: http//wonderful play with black queen.
