Kibitzer's Corner
May-21-05  Ulhumbrus: If the N are replaced, the pawn formation will be similar to that in the forst match game between Korchnoi and Petrosian in 1974.Robert Byrne has written a book on the candidates 1974 cycle which ended up giving Karpov the world championship.
May-21-05  Ulhumbrus: Correction to my prevoius message, I meant to say if the Ns are replaced (not if the N are replaced)
May-21-05  Ulhumbrus: Instead of 17..f5, 17 ..e5 begins to prepare ...f5 by preventing e5 in reply to ...f5. The moves ...e5 and ...d6 obstruct the long diagonal for White's queen and queen's bishop as well.
May-21-05  Ulhumbrus: From 23...Qd3 it seems that Black is struggling to draw. This suggests that 17...f5?! is mistaken and that preparing it by 17...e5 is better.
