Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-22-06  PolishPentium: Your friendly neighbourhood PolishPentium suggests that 12... Bb4 seems to save the day, at least temporarily, for Black. The B move unveils protection by the Q for the N at a6, and the tempo involved as White scurries away his Q allows time to protect the R at a8. Or is there something more devious for White? As usual, explication of the flaws in my logic are greatly appreciated...
Jun-22-06  Runemaster: 12...Bb4 13.Qd3 Nc5 14.Qb5 leaves Black in a similar tangle.
May-27-08  prinsallan: Isnt 7... Ne7 better than the Qc7-move?
Dec-19-08  Toadspring: NN wasn't a Grandmaster... I'm guessing here. This is a perfect example of how 1 g4, usually considered an inferior first move, can knock out an unsuspecting (and over matched) opponent.

pawn to QB4: <12...Bb4 13.Qd3 Nc5 14.Qb5 leaves Black in a similar tangle.> still worth staggering on with 14...Rb8 15.Qxb4 Qd6 and the threat of ...Nd3+ wins the bishop back with a lead in development for the pawn. Only a decent sporting player resigns here; we cheap swindlers have gained many an undeserved point from this sort of position.

Domdaniel: Could this be one of Grob's many correspondence games against the readers of a Swiss newspaper?
