Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-08-11  Salaskan: 15.a5! is not the most common pawn advance in these positions since it doesn't target c6 as in the minority attack, but it leaves black with nothing useful to do and under constant positional pressure, white can eventually open the a-file or play a6 with advantage, and when black tries to push c5 (while a6 by black is prevented), Nb5 will prove bothersome.

Kasimdzhanov played b5 immediately, but this creates permanent weaknesses on a6 and c6 and Chucky exploited the outpost on c5 in characteristic fashion. It's creative how he sacrificed a pawn to eventually get an uncontested knight on e5 that can regain it. Note that the outpost on c4 can't be reached by black.
