plang: 3..c5 and 5..b5 is one of the sharpest lines in the Queens Gambit Accepted. 9..Qa5 was played in Adianto-Granda Zuniga Amsterdam 1996 (White won); 9..gxf was new. The lternative 10..Nd7 11 Qa4..Qc8 12 Qg3! with the idea of Bh3 would have been promising for White. 11 Qg4?!..Qxd5! led to complications in Black's favor. Worth investigating was 12 Rxb8+..Rxb8 13 Bxb8..0-0 14 Bf4 though Black would have had good compensation and a promising initiative. 26 Qxc5?! seemed questionable; more promising was 26 f3..Kh8 27 a4..Rg8 with small Black edge. 30 Bxc4+..Kh8 31 f3..e4 32 fxe..Re8 33 Qf7..Qxe4 would not have helped White. Khalifman resigned due to 51 Ke3..Rxf1 52 Rxf1..Bc4. Voted the 3rd best game in Informant 80.
