Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-22-06  twinlark: 27...Rc1+ 28.Rxc1 Qxd6 fails of course to 29.Nf7 mate.

But instead of 26...Bf5+, wouldn't 26...Rc6 save or even win the game for Black? 27.Qd3 fails to 27...Bf5 pinning the White Queen.

Feb-28-06  Rocafella: I love the ending

OBIT: Yes, definitely a nice finish. 28. Qd8+ isn't hard to find, but it forces mate, as even 28...Kg7 29. Ne6+! Kh6 30 Qxf6+ doesn't delay the end. It is also worth noting that after 28...Rxd8 29. Nxf7+!, deflecting the queen, is the only winning move, while 29. Rxd8+?? loses to 29...Kg7 30. Ne4+ Qg6! 31. Rxg6+ Rxg6 32. Nc3 Rg1+ 33. Rd1 Rxd1+ 34. Nxd1 Kg6, with a won ending. IMO, this finish is good enough to be a puzzle position. (Let's see if the webmaster is listening in and agrees, heh heh...)
Sep-19-06  chickadee little: superb finish
Jul-10-09  nd792001: agreed, great ending... GOTD material? The names are punable...
