Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-26-05  aw1988: My version of the immortal draw before I knew it existed. Na4, true, breaks opening principles by moving the same piece twice, but I figure a knight on a4 can later go to c5, or provote a square weakness by attacking the knight with a pawn, back to c3. Also, if Be7, it's pretty equal, if Bb6 I can take it. But all this is a little too optimistic.

Fairly thrilling!

Sep-26-05  aw1988: Provote should say provoke.
Sep-26-05  aw1988: Okay, ignore the knight to c5 bit. It was a question of capturing the bishop or having it retreat. I'm thinking of the "English" a3-c4 knight.
Sep-26-06  Manic: Ummm, after 13.Kxc5??, shouldn't black play 13...Ne7 which forces 14...b6# ? Because instead of the usual 12.Kxc5 white played 12.Kb5??

FSR: This seems to have been such a "Friendly Skirmish" that neither player wanted to win. As Manic said, 13...Ne7 wins immediately (so does 13...Nf6). In the game continuation, 16.Kf4 would have won easily for White.

whiteshark: <TheDestruktor: Unbelievable!! Was it a real game??> No, all other games in this line ended under 20 moves and were prearranged.
Sep-16-08  jovack: White is foolish.

I had an opponent (who was much higher in "rating" than myself at the time) try an early bishop sac before to draw my king out and I crushed him. The extra minor piece makes all the difference.

Then again, (not to advertise, but) see my profile for a game where I was screwing around and sacd my queen on move 3 to build a massive attack. Granted, you opponent needs to make a few errors positionally, but still.

May-03-09  WhiteRook48: even 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Ng5 Bc5 4. Bc4 c6 5. Nxf7 Bxf2+ wouldn't have surprised me as much.
Jul-11-09  WhiteRook48: which player was he?
