hesyrett: The conclusion of this game mystifies me.  First of all, why didn't Black play 15...cxd5?  That would leave White attacking with just his ♕.  It takes quite a while to organize a Rook-lift, and ♗e3 points the ♗ at a7 whilst the Black ♔ will be running to the K-side.  Meanwhile, White lacks a ♗ to cover the weak light squares on his own K-side, where Black's ♕ and ♗ are hovering.

hesyrett: Following on from my previous post:  perhaps Black was playing for a win, and didn't want to give White the perpetual check after 15...cxd5 16 ♕xa7 ♕xd3 17 ♕a8+ ♔d2 18 ♕a4+ ♔c8, reckoning it too dangerous to walk the ♔ onto the 6-row.  But 15...♕xd3 was still an egregious blunder for a correspondence game, since after 16 ♕xc6 ♖d7 17 ♕a8 is mate; thus 16...♗d6 is forced, but on 17 c5 both White's ♘s are protected (17...♕xf3 18 ♘b6+ axb6 19 ♕xf3) and 18 cxd6 will renew the mate threat on c7.
Dec-01-09  MagisterMusicae: If black plays 15...♙cxd5 then 16. ♕a6+:

1) 16...♔d7 17. ♘xe5+ ♙fxe5 (17...♔e8 ♘xg6) 18. ♕xg6

2) 16...♔b8 17. ♘xe5 (Δ ♘xc6+) ♙fxe6 (♖d6 18. ♕b5+ ♖b6 19. ♕xb6+ cxb6 20. ♘xg6 ) 18.♘xg6
