Kibitzer's Corner
May-05-09  blacksburg: i find black's use of his rook to be rather instructive in the early endgame. my instinct would be to play ...Rd8 as soon as possible to oppose white's rook. instead, Keene plays things like 19...a5, seeming to intend ...a4 activating the rook from a8, and after white plays a4, securing the c5 square for the knight. 31...Rb8 also instructive, preparing the queenside advance. i probably would have been trying to oppose white's rook on the d-file ASAP without ever considering such things.

nice game.

Jul-14-09  RoseJunkie: <blacksburg> It certainly was an enjoyable endgame to watch.

Whats the continuation after 18. Qxc7 I assume... black would be winning but its not clear to me.

Jul-14-09  blacksburg: 18.Qxc7 Re7 and the queen is trapped.
Jul-14-09  RoseJunkie: Sweet. Thanks!
