Nov-15-14  TheFocus: From a simul at the Brooklyn Chess Club on January 20, 1894.

Lasker scored +16=1-1.

May-21-20  TheBish: I would think the final move would be 49...Qf5+, forking king and rook next move. Possibly the final move was recorded incorrectly? Maybe by the victor, in his excitement over defeating the great Lasker.

MissScarlett: I had to check this - <Whyld (1998)>'s source is the <Standard Union> of January 22nd 1894, p.8. The final move is indeed <Q-B4. ch>, but Whyld has <49...Qf4+> Well spotted; correction submitted.

On a general point, Brooklyn wasn't, it seems, incorporated into New York City until 1898. Strictly speaking, that would mean <New York, NY USA> as the site isn't correct, but with all the issues at national level, why open a new can of worms?
