Feb-08-08  Resignation Trap: Nice combination by Lutikov beginning with 36.Rd8+!!
Feb-08-08  Jim Bartle: "Sicilian Defense: Nyezhmetdinov-Rossolimo Attack"

Don't know about Rossolimo, but it defnitely looks like a Nyezhmetdinov attack to me.

Feb-08-08  Shams: yes, very nice kill indeed.

on 10...Nc7 what is white's most convincing continuation?

Feb-09-08  Resignation Trap: <Shams> Glad you asked!

On 10.a4 Nc7, White plays 11.Bxc7 Qxc7 12.d6!

Position after 12.d6, Black to play:

A) 12...Qc6 (to prevent a potential Qd1-d5 by White) 13.Rxe7+ Kf8 14.Qe2! Bf6 15.Qc4! Bxe7 16.Ne5! Kg7 17.Qxf7+ Kh6 18.Qxe7! wins.

B) 12...Qc6 13.Rxe7+ Kd8 14.Ng5 Rf8
White to play. <Monday puzzle time!>:

15.Re8+!! Kxe8 (if 15...Rxe8 16.Nxf7#) 16.Qe2+ and mate in three more moves.

C) 12...Qd8 13.Rxe7+ Qxe7 (If 13...Kf8 14.Qd5 and Black has to give up his Queen, anyway) 14.dxe7 Kxe7. Material is about even, but Black's King is exposed and he will be unable to organize a defense in time, for example: 15.Na3 Nc6 16.Nb5 .

Feb-10-08  Shams: nicely done <Resignation Trap>.
Apr-11-11  Eduardo Bermudez: Very interesting play on dark squares !!
