Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-21-06  alexandrovm: 51. ...Nf4+ and h3, elegant way to finish this. early in the game white is two pawns down. Svidler miscalculated somewhere.
Mar-21-06  nuwanda: i think instead of 51...nf4 h3 was possible at once, 52.fe ke8. i love positions where one side has a huge material advantage, is to move and can do nothing...
Mar-21-06  alexandrovm: <nuwanda: i think instead of 51...nf4 h3 was possible at once, 52.fe ke8. i love positions where one side has a huge material advantage, is to move and can do nothing...> Ke8, maybe I didn't understand what you mean. if, for example 52. fxe+ Ke8 and, say 53. Be4... and h1 is protected and black is a piece down.
Mar-21-06  nuwanda: <alexandrovm>, ahh, the bishop from c3 cannot move to e4
Mar-21-06  Brady: Wrong colored bishop. White cannot stop the h pawn after 51...h3.
Mar-21-06  alexandrovm: <nuwanda: <alexandrovm>, ahh, the bishop from c3 cannot move to e4> lol! my mistake...
Mar-21-06  Jim Bartle: "ahh, the bishop from c3 cannot move to e4"

That sure would cause a revolution in chess theory!

Mar-21-06  nuwanda: <Jim Bartle>, yeah, another queen, not a mixture of rook and bishop, but of knight and bishop
Mar-21-06  alexandrovm: <nuwanda: <Jim Bartle>, yeah, another queen, not a mixture of rook and bishop, but of knight and bishop> yep, and there is a game that is a extention of chess, instead of an 8x8 board it's a 10x10 board. If I'm not mistaken it's 2 new pieces. One of them moves both as a bishop and as a knight.
