Sep-20-06  notyetagm: 30 ... ♗e3+!, an excellent <DISCOVERED ATTACK> which uses the tactical theme <the king does -not- count as a defender because he cannot go there>.

Here White should not play 31 ♔xe3?? because he will then be mated after 31 ... ♕g5+ 32 f4 ♕g3+ 33 ♘f3 ♕f2#. Hence the White e2-king does -not- <DEFEND> the e3-square because he will be trapped in a mating net if he goes there.

So the e3-square is actually undefended, which Topalov exploits with 30 ... ♗f2-e3+!.

Sep-20-06  ikipemiko: Kf8 is really interesting move.
