  plang: 9..f6 is not mentioned in the books that I have that cover the Marshall Gambit (4 e4) but it is not new; 9..Bd7 is the most popular move. 11 Nf3 had been played previously; 11 0-0-0 was new. The endgame after 12..Qf4+ 13 Bd2..Qc7 14 Bh5+..g6 15 Bf3..Qxd8 16 Rxd8..Ke7 17 Bxc6 would have been lost for Black. 14..Qf4+? was the losing move; necessary was 14..Qxc4 15 Rd6..Nb4 16 Qc7+..Ne7 17 Rxf6+..Ke8! 18 Ne2..Bf5 19 Rxf5..Nxa2+ 20 Kc2..Nb4+ 21 Kc1..gxf and Black has a draw if he wants it.
