Kibitzer's Corner
May-27-06  Knight13: Uh.... I thought Computers weren't THIS volnerable. FIBChess is bad at tactics, then.
May-27-06  whatthefat: Strange. Fritz 8 is just plain confused by 13...Re4?! seeing immediately that 14.Qb3! gives white a clear advantage. Interestingly, Fritz shows that white makes a serious inaccuracy on the 15th move, quickly pointing out 15.Ng5! exploiting black's weak back rank after 15...Qxg5 16.Bxg4!

Black seems to think there must be a 9th rank on the board playing 16.Bxf3? though, once again exposing the king to trouble! As computer chess goes, this is really amateurish stuff.

May-27-06  Knight13: <watthefat> Yes. Very amateurish stuff indeed, as FIBChess is rated 2000 and Chaturanga is only rated 1900!!

Honza Cervenka: 15.Ng5! would have been pretty shot. Then 15...Qxg5 16.Bxg4 Rxe1+ 17.Rxe1 Qd8 18.d5 looks crushing, for example

1) 18...cxd5 19.Qxb5 (threatening Re8+) 19...Kf8 20.Qb7 Nd7 21.Bxd7

or 2) 18...h5 19.d6 Bxd6 (19...hxg4 20.dxc7 Qxc7 21.Re8+ Kh7 22.Qd3+ etc.; 19...Ba5 20.Bxa5 Qxa5 21.Re8+ Kh7 22.Qxf7 etc.; 19...Na6 20.Bxh5 etc.) 20.Bxh5 Bc7 (20...Bf8 21.Qxf7+ Kh8 22.Re8 ; 20...Bxc5 21.Qxf7+ Kh7 22.Bg6+ Kh6 23.Bxf4+ etc.) 21.Qxf7+ Kh7 22.Qg6+ Kh8 23.Re8+

or 18...Na6 19.d6 Nxc5 20.dxc7 Qxd2 (20...Nxb3 21.cxd8=Q+ Rxd8 22.axb3 ) 21.Qd1 Qa5 22.c8=Q+
