Jul-17-06  Runemaster: Black's combination starting with 23...Nxf2 is similar to Fischer's in the famous R.Byrne - Fischer 1963 game, where it looked as though Fischer was just going to end up with a rook for two pieces.

But Fischer had something extra in mind - Carlsen didn't.

Jul-17-06  ChessMan94: Hopefully the great Magnus learned that it is better to draw rather than lose a game against a lower rated player.
Jul-17-06  Xaurus: <ChessMan94>Magnus wants to win each game so badly. He wants to do it with style.

He had the tournament victory in his pocket, but he failed.

He can still win though. I think the match vs. Agdestein can be useful in regards to the match vs. Aronian.

chancho: Taking the Bishop after 56.Be4+ is a losing endgame for black. While 56...Kh5 57.Qd5+ Qg5 58.Nf6# is mate.
May-06-14  Caissanist: Eight years later, this game has become the answer to a trivia question--so far as I know, the last classical game Carlsen lost to a fellow Norwegian.
