Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-25-06  babakova: I think these two put in too little effort in this game, the end position is by no means a stone cold draw.
Jul-25-06  Ezzy: I will never ever understand why this pathetic effort is allowed in the rules of chess. What is the point?

All organisers of top closed tournaments should use the M-Tel rules and not allow this nonsense to happen.

I would never put up with this if I was putting up cash for a prestigious tournament. I just wouldn't bother.

I want to see the players play chess.

Jul-25-06  suenteus po 147: <Ezzy> Maybe it would have been drawn anyway. Observe: 24.Kh1 fxe4 25.Nxe4 Nxe4 26.Qxe4 Nc5 27.Qe3 Nd7 28.Qe4 Nc5 29.Qe3 Nd7 etc.
Jul-26-06  Ezzy: Sorry but I just don't buy it. In your line white loses a pawn. 26..Rxc1 27 Bxc1 Nc5 and the d5 pawn is lost.

There should be no draw offers in chess. It makes a mockery out of public chess viewing, and some organisers are already getting fed up with it.

I don't believe it does anything to promote chess as a viewing spectacle.
