Apr-09-15  TheFocus: A certain LifeMaster did a YouTube video on this game.

As we did not have to refute any of the analysis he offered, it was his best video ever.

Apr-09-15  MarkFinan: Did he mention this game though? We all know AJ had a tendency to forget the game in question and soldier on regardless talking about one of his now infamous..... Training games! Lol. Hope you're well Focus. ✌

Apr-09-15  TheFocus: <Mark> I am doing well.
Apr-09-15  MarkFinan: AT.. So you're familiar with the great AJ then? Lol. If any one man could destroy the very little interest that chess generates, it's AJ Gatsby the 4th, lol.
Apr-09-15  A.T PhoneHome: Yeah, I've seen his posts etc. when I was delurking on this site before I registered.
Apr-09-15  MarkFinan: <A.T PhoneHome: Yeah, I've seen his posts etc. when I was delurking on this site before I registered.>

Then I'm just glad you're still interested in chess, lol. But definitely the funniest character (in my time) we've ever had here. Just think the Bazil Faulty of chess, with students and outrageous and untrue stories, lol.

<TheFocus: <Mark> I am doing well.>

Great to hear that, Nik. I've only made a handful of facebook posts this year and hardly ever read my newsfeed anymore, so I haven't heard from you or really seen you around, but glad you're well.

Apr-09-15  A.T PhoneHome: <Mark> Well, I did read quite a few things he wrote. I understand why someone may not like him; on the other hand he struck me as a very enthusiastic chess player. Was funny how he would always post his game collection or something, I actually liked that in him.

BUT I understand why people may not like him. Then again, that doesn't really bother me for I never spoke with him and I don't stress out about something rude said to me. And it takes more than a man to drain my chess interest. :P

No doubt about that. AJ is very enthusiastic about chess, the fact that he got everything wrong never dampened his enthusiasm either, lol. He was a character alright, but he told the most outrageous stories that no one ever believed, he finally told a lie about the owner of this site and got banned. Similar situation on chess dot com, similar on the ICC, he was just full of..... But I won't ever deny he loves the game.

Apr-09-15  A.T PhoneHome: I saw those; I didn't really put so much emphasis on them. And he said outright offensive things, yes, happened to read such statements. Even those don't make him rank lower to me because that was something between him and person x and it had nothing to do with me.
Apr-09-15  MarkFinan: Well I've shown sympathy in the way AJ was dispatched of even though I was one of the <many> people who wanted to get rid of him. AJ said something about me that I can't forgive or forget, god forgives I don't. But in hindsight I regret it all, I don't hate him as I'm sure he thinks, but I refuse to like him either. He has problems that the admins of this site can't help with, and I heard he was hurting business, people not renewing their memberships here etc etc. I guess he had to go.
Apr-09-15  A.T PhoneHome: Alright, whatever he said about you I don't need to know but I'm sorry to hear that you suffered too. But let's cut this conversation and continue with more positive matters on your forum page!

kevin86: Could this be the most important zero move game in history? A turning point, Fischer dominated Spassky after this game!
Aug-15-16  Howard: As I posted here a couple years ago---"Be honest--how many people could have anticipated that Spassky was to win only ONE more game after jumping to a 2-0 lead?"

I sure as hell didn't! But, then, I was only 12 at the time---my birthday was during the match, in fact.

Aug-15-16  Sally Simpson: Hi Howard (Happy Birthday)

Most thought that was the end of the match. After the first game people thought he had gone loopy and the default meant Fischer was in effect 3-0 down as Spassky had the draw odds.

Wonder what would have happened to all that money if the whole show was cancelled after game two.

The Slater donation perhaps had a Fischer must play out the match clause and if Fischer just walked away would he get the losers share of what was left.

Maybe that is why Spassky kind of disobeyed Moscow and stayed to see if the whole match could take place.

Money. Who knows?

Jul-10-17  PaperSlim: One of the most dynamic positional games of all time
Jul-10-17  morfishine: Engines have a hard time with this one

Jul-11-17  ughaibu: Hardly surprising:
Sep-21-18  gokusano: Wow! This could be the best game of the match and the best one for Spassky. A resignation from one of the greatest ever after only a zero move. This is just a joke. I admire Spassky a lot, being a gentleman most of the time.

Alex Schindler: The game of the century!

Well, that is useful.
