fm avari viraf: Here, I think, White could have continued with 13.Nxb4 Nxb4 14.a3 Na6 15.Qd4 Qxd4 or Qg5 but to play against Larry means you are half done & vision blurs.
Jun-27-09  williscreek: fm avari viraf - In your line 14... Nd3+ looks a bit better than Na6

fm avari viraf: As I woke up in the morning, as everyone does, I realised that there was a flaw in my analysis, hence I would like to apologise & correct my post. Definitely, I missed the simple 14...Nd3+ which seals White's fate. Gross wisely resigned whereas I made a Gross mistake. Thanks my dear Williscreek.

FSR: White giving up the dark-squared bishop was indeed a Gross idea.
Feb-29-12  screwdriver: To say this game is gross is an understatement.

perfidious: The natural 6.Qxd4 looks stronger. Opening Explorer

Black's development appears awkward, but is designed to meet the natural 9.Nge2 with the ingenious shot played in the game. For want of a tempo: if White had only had time to play Nge2-c3, this setup would have worked out well for him.

<skiskichess5>,
11. ♘xc6 ♗xc6 12. ♗f2 removing the bishop from the e-file seems to be perfectly OK for White.

yiotta: 8.Qe7 should sound a warning to those of us who are a little paranoid, although it gives the appearance of just clearing so as to castle queenside. Nice trap, anyway.
