Dec-23-06  preybird: Shirov at his best. Gotta like 16.Bh3. Hopefully this signals some sort of comeback.
Dec-23-06  tarlan13: didn't understand Bh3?
Dec-23-06  Mameluk: <tarlan13> What you donīt understand?? 17. gxh3 axb4. In fact this move is well known theory. Shirov played precisely even in won position, lovely finish. Perfect play, check the correlation with computer moves. If white was Topalov, we would have scandal:)
Dec-23-06  mynameisrandy: Shirov has a thing about moving Bh3, doesn't he?

Also, his bishops in this game are ridiculous.

Dec-23-06  NBZ: why did he resign? after 41. Rxh3 it' still game on, though black is admittedly better.

Dec-23-06  malthrope: A nice clean cut chess game by the great Alexey! Sharp middlegame play a pure joy to observe! Monster pair of bishop's to boot! :-)
Dec-23-06  suenteus po 147: Shirov may never achieve consistent greatness (see game 2 the following day) but this game sets fire to the board! Shirov is awesome....
