Mar-23-07  hscer: is there any background story to this game?
Mar-23-07  dbquintillion: Don't know, but judging by Feliks' record in the database, perhaps it was a good idea.
Mar-23-07  Tomlinsky: It seems Feliks Villard played 6th board for the Estonian team in the 1936 Chess Olympiad. He even managed to notch up quite a respectable score and earned an individual bronze medal even beating Richter playing on the German top board. Paul Keres played top board for the Estonians.

Sep-20-07  centercounter: This game was replayed, move for move, in Elista!
Nov-05-07  patzerboy: Black resigned because he knows his Bobby Fisher:

"1.e4! and wins!"

  whiteshark: Feliks Villard's score at Parnu 1937 was + 0 -7 =0

He already had lost six games before and didn't play this last round game.

On the other side it was Ilmar Raud's only win in this tounament, too. +1 -5 =1

Jan-14-08  D.Observer: <<<<Is>this>a>real game?>
Mar-22-08  Wone Jone: <<<Yes>it>was!>
Jul-26-08  FizzyY: actually white resigned, not black. . .
Dec-29-08  eightbyeight: Which side do you think has the advantage in this position? Equal material, no positional advantages - looks like a draw to me. Well, White may have a small advantage because it's his turn.
Feb-10-10  benjaminpugh: As fine a game as Fast Eddie playing in the Reno Open semi-finals!
Mar-23-10  BishopsPawn: An "Uncommon Opening" indeed!

FSR: This game was also repeated in the second game of the 1972 Fischer-Spassky World Championship match.
Aug-24-10  eightbyeight: I've done some analysis, and I've discovered that in the final position, White has a forced mate by 1. a3!!. Unfortunately the analysis is two million pages of kibitzing long, so I can't post it here.
Dec-01-10  WhiteRook48: no, no, no, no. White has a faster mate if he plays 1 e3. Then 1...g5 is forced, and then 2 Be2 f6 3 Bh5#
Apr-20-11  eightbyeight: 1. ... g5 is not forced.
Jun-06-11  pajaste: Are there any chess games with zero moves that ended 0-0? I just ask because sometimes even playing is a mistake, and I think this might be possible, say if two cellphones rang simultaneously when making the first move.
