Jul-29-07  Marmot PFL: This game is worth playing through just to see how white uses his queen, rook, and bishop. It's like a professor demonstrating a math proof and black doesn't seem to make any obvious mistakes. Maybe 23...bxc4 opens the game for the bishop too much but black also gets d5 for the knight. In hindsight a6 instead might hold but it is very passive. Also note 31...Qf3 leads to a bad ending after 32.Qxf3 Rxf3 33.Re1 (Rd3? Bc2 )

Mateo: Ivanchuk prepared some nice tactical shots. 35...Qf7? seems to be a kind of blunder. After 36.Bb3, Harikrishna loses the 'a' pawn. There is no defence.

1) 36...Qb7 37.Re7 Rd7 38.Re8+! Nxe8 39.Qf8+ Kh7 40.Qg8+ Kg6 41.Qxe8+ mate follows.

2) 36...Qd7 37.Re7 Qxd4 38.Re8+! Nxe8 39.Qf8+ and mate again. 38...Kh7 39.Qf5+ g6 40.Re7 invades everything.
