Ron: It seems that 21. Qa7 is the beginning of a clever sequence of moves by Ivancuk which evetually gives him a material advantage.
Jul-13-09  Knight13: <Ron> Agreed. The position is too deep for anyone to understand what went wrong.
Jul-13-09  WhiteRook48: many things are weird here
Why did white throw away both his bishops?
why did black sacrifice two exchanges?
Jul-14-09  Knight13: <WhiteRook4>

White threw away both of his bishops because the Black knights were far superior to the white bishops and it was better chop them off.

Black didn't <sacrifice> the two exchanges. He inevitably lost them. That's why he had to resign.
