In the final position, Mamedyarov threatens to show the power of his White g6-passed pawn by playing 35 ♗f5-c8+! <clearance for f7-f4> ♔b7x♗c8 36 ♖f7x♖f4 e5xf4 37 g6-g7 and Black is helpless to prevent the promotion of the g-pawn next move.
