Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-03-08  Green Bishop: Capa played two games with the white pieces against the same opponent the same day (20/10/1901). In both games Enrique Corzo played the Latvian gambit. Each one with a victory. I would like to know wich game was played first. (The other game is also in this data base).
Feb-03-08  paladin at large: <GreenBishop> Hooper & Brandreth, in "The Unknown Capablanca", list this game first. Both were friendly games to test a variation of the Greco Counter-gambit (3...Nc6).
Feb-03-08  Green Bishop: Thank you paladin. In the other game Capablanca played 4.Qh5+ with a poor game.
Aug-04-08  fischerstein: I'm a huge fan of Capa, but this Corzo guy was no Alekhine.. he made at least 3 pathetic blunders in this game
Aug-30-08  Kiki.Moon: I feel that Capablance could of ended the game much sooner. I think he was toying after he sealed the win.
Dec-23-09  Whitehat1963: Interesting Monday/Tuesday puzzle after the blunder 40...Bxf2??
Apr-10-14  VSP: I dont understand why not 25...Rxb3 ?
Apr-10-14  RookFile: Interesting question. 25...Rxb3 26. Rd8+ Rb8 27. Rhd1 a6 (forced) 28. Rxb8+ Kxb8 29. Rd5. I'm sure white wins easily. Maybe somebody has something even stronger. Make a long story short, black is lost.
Apr-11-14  VSP: Exact Rookfile, 25...Rxb3 changes nothing, thanks for the comment. I did not develop my own reflexion far enough.
That's why i'm still a noob ^^

NM JRousselle: Corzo could have resigned a lot sooner, but how was he to know that Capablanca would become Capablanca?
Sep-08-16  Aunt Jemima: Capa was already playing really good chess at this time. I noticed that Capablanca liked to develop his queen's bishop early. He even did this in his game vs Janowski which was highlighted in Chervev's book.
