Jan-17-08  Robin01: Can black now capture the pawn on e4?
Premium Chessgames Member
Eyal: An immediate 12...Bxe4 wouldn't be good because of 13.Re1 Rd8 14.Rxe4 f5 15.Rxe7+ Kxe7 16.c3; but now it really seems that Black has equality

Jan-17-08  acirce: 13..Bxe4 played. Suppose White will just force the draw now.
Jan-17-08  Rawprawn: This is a dead draw isn't it?
Premium Chessgames Member
  whiteshark: Most likely now 14.Re1 Rd7 15.Nc3 Bd5=
Jan-17-08  acirce: <This is a dead draw isn't it?> Very soon.
Premium Chessgames Member
whiteshark: They will exchange everything to reach an even ♖endgame at move 20.
Jan-17-08  Strongest Force: How can it be even when black is a pawn up?
Premium Chessgames Member
tamar: Ivanchuk just seemed intent on avoiding loss in this game. Has to give Magnus confidence drawing from a position of strength
Jan-17-08  TheBB: It's doubled, for one.
Jan-17-08  achieve: Now the whole lot can be swapped
Jan-17-08  waustad: Draws if Rxe7.
Premium Chessgames Member
whiteshark: White will win the pawn on d5 back...than it looks like this:

Premium Chessgames Member
  whiteshark: Draw agreed
Will we see a 3rd live game today ??
Jan-17-08  waustad: They skipped N takes.
Premium Chessgames Member
tamar: Did they leave out 19 Nxd5 cxd5 20 Rxd5 Otherwise makes little sense.
Premium Chessgames Member
whiteshark: Tamar, they corrected it on the corus position as in my last diagram.
Jan-17-08  amadeus: <How can it be even when black is a pawn up?> Nxd5+ cxd5 Rxd5

jessicafischerqueen: a 19 move draw to go with the 20 move draw in the Anand game.

Just great. I thought YESTERDAY was the rest day.

One Quite Angry Chess fan.

I'm switching to International Scrabble viewing.

tamar: thanks <whiteshark> Thought maybe some Ivanchuk humor after agreeing to draw.
Jan-17-08  supertimchan: Black is an exchange up, why draw?
Premium Chessgames Member
Eyal: <Black is an exchange up, why draw?>

Because, as mentioned above, the score is wrong - the moves <19.Nxd5+ cxd5> were played before <20.>Rxd5. I hope will fix that.
