Dec-25-09  mysql: How did a super-GM like Vachier-Lagrave get into a tournament with these players?

Here's another one as pointed-out by <tamar>:

M Vachier-Lagrave vs Y Benmessaoud, 2004

Dec-25-09  Billy Vaughan: He was, like, 13. And it wasn't till 2005 he got his GM title. You gotta start out playing patzers and move up..
Dec-25-09  mysql: <Billy Vaughan: He was, like, 13. And it wasn't till 2005 he got his GM title. You gotta start out playing patzers and move up..>

If that's the case, then there must be something wrong with the PGN because it shows that Vachier-Lagrave was rated 2637 when this was played.

Dec-25-09  Billy Vaughan: FIDE has him just under 2500 by the end of 2004:

His opponent here is kinda weak for even a 2400 IM to play, but mismatches like that happen in open tournaments.

Dec-16-16  razetime: Dang, that must have been painful to encounter, being a close-to 2500 player.
