An Englishman: Good Evening, and Wow: There were a lot of brilliancies at Amber this year, and this one is as big a surprise for me as it must have been for Mamdeyarov. Going into a Rook-down ending when your last piece is a piece of junk? And then that 37th move! Who would have guessed that a King, Rook and Bishop couldn't stop three pawns, two of them doubled!

So was this sound?

Mar-28-08  DiWally: 37. b4!!
Has Gelfand really calculate this at move 31 ?!
Mar-29-08  kingsindian2006: what a great ending by gelfy. i smell a puzzle in the future...
Mar-29-08  Illogic: Do not sleep on this amazing endgame by Gelfand!!
