Kibitzer's Corner
May-15-08  kasp: Oh my god! Van wely lost againts a just 2133 elo player.. very disappoint.Congratulations to Rahmanov.
May-15-08  ALwoodpusher: 15.Qa5? looks bad as the queen is off play for most of the game. Maybe Qc2 with the minority attack (a4, b5) is better.
May-15-08  nummerzwei: Looks like an nice kingside attack by black.

In the final position, the dutch super grandmaster was right to resign as black can force mate with:

37...Qxg2+!! 38.RxQg2 RxRg2+ 39.Kh3 Rh1 mate

May-15-08  percyblakeney: The pgn seems suspicious, for example both players overlook something on move 27...
May-16-08  OneArmedScissor: This is pretty indicative of the fact that Van Wely does not need to be in super tournaments anymore.
May-18-08  Billy Vaughan: Eep, his wife probably gave him a major chewing out for that.

If I were this 2100, I'd be thrilled. Just think -- she's just two degrees away from having beaten Topalov, Kramnik and Karpov. That's pretty damned good.

Jun-06-08  zoren: game score might be wrong, since Rxd1 on move 27 is plausible, and that loek had a slight edge the entire game

Stonehenge: Yes, and shouldn't it be S. Rahmaninov?
Jun-06-08  ezmerin: It's a terrible game by Van Wely. He traps his Queen behind his own pawns at move 16., leaves it useless for a rest of a game (21 moves!) then blunders a Rook at move 27. (unnoticed!). At least all this cannot escape without punishment.

However, it is nice to see how Black transposed game into kind of Dutch Defense and how he finally managed to activate his 'dead' Bishop from d7 nest to d5 airport.

Jun-06-08  Neil Ferde: I don't understand this game. Why not 27...RxR+?
Jun-29-08  Gouki: 27..♖xd1+ is best!!

but you have to remember it is a 2100 rated player :P

Jun-29-08  player2008: <but you have to remember it is a 2100 rated player :P> What is that supposed to mean? A 2100 rated player is more than enough to beat you up, don't you think? Are you claiming to be someone with a higher rating?
Jan-24-14  arsenal2014: RAHMANOV ....Very good and Hard play chess...I am know Rahmanov 2014 year 2264 but Rahmanov Play 2600+ ....
