Sep-02-10  twinlark:

2 years after he retired at the ripe old age of 8, this child (Rauf Aliyev) is still the top rated U10 in the world. The maturity of his play in this game (including a successful swindle at move 28) is evident in basically holding his own against GM Savchenko until his blunder on his last move.

Savchenko played 28...Qxe5.

Instead 28...Nxd1! wins (29. exf6 Re1#; 29.Rxd1 Qxe5)

Mar-03-11  twinlark: It seems the FIDE records were incorrect, and Rauf Alijey is not a a precocious 8 year old but a 42 year old. The corrected record is at http://ratings.fide.com/card.phtml?....
