Domdaniel: A really nice win by Lawrence Day. Black's ...h5-h4 announces his intent to go for a gonzo kingside assault - it's a routine hazard for those of us who play such openings with White. Day's Knight maneuver Nd2-c4-e3 handles the attack calmly, and after 12.Nd5! Bxd5? Black is strategically lost. White will dominate the light squares for the rest of the game.

With Kg2 and Rh1 he methodically strips Black of his last asset, the h-file, and finishes with a clever pseudo-sac of the Queen. Most aesthetic.

It's a shock to see that Black was actually the higher-rated player here: Day ties him in knots and thoroughly outplays him.
