Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-05-08  jaybugg13: Ha ha we can all stop playing chess if this is a theoretically drawn position.
Aug-05-08  DeltaHawk: This is scandalous chess.
Aug-05-08  dumbgai: To be fair to the players, this was the last game of a four-game match and Anand had already clinched a win the previous game. With a 2.5-0.5 lead he only played this game because the tournament rules required it, thus the short draw.
Aug-05-08  Petrosianic: That's not much of an argument. He didn't play a real game because he wasn't forced to.
Aug-05-08  DeltaHawk: <Petrosianic: That's not much of an argument. He didn't play a real game because he wasn't forced to.> Don't you mean he didn't play a real game because he was forced to?
Aug-06-08  piroflip: I think that Petrosianic's statement was correct in its original form.
Aug-10-08  popescuag: This shouldn't happen at this level.
Aug-10-08  Udit Narayan: Magnus must be tired of constantly getting pwned by Anand. After two crushing defeats and a lucky draw resulting from the kindheartedness of his opponent, the youthful Norwegian offered his experienced Indian adversary a draw and Anand, only requiring 1/2 point to defend his Mainz rapid title, duly obliged with the symbolic handshake.
Aug-12-08  apexin: excellent game.
Aug-12-08  Whiteresigns: Don't hate the players, hate the rules. Funny things happen in meaningless games in all sports. Why should chess be different?
