Oct-04-08  sneaky pete: Excuse me, I don't see how white can save himself in the final position.
Oct-04-08  Karpova: J. H. Sarratt: <Salvio leaves here off, and says that White will win. He appears to be correct in his assertion; but the game is, nevertheless, difficult.>

From page 271 of J. H. Sarratt's "The Works of Damiano, Ruy Lopez and Salvio on the Game of Chess", London 1813. Link:

Oct-04-08  sneaky pete: <Karpova> Thanks for the link. Note that black made the first move, and when after

B(lack) K.B. takes K.B.P., and checks
W(hite) K. to his second square, and afterwards Q. to her K.R. third square

the evaluation is <White will win>, this means that Salvio believes the second player will win, just as I suspected.

A correct transription would have been 1.e5 e4 2.Bc5 Bc4 3.Nf6 d3 with as the final move <Wanna Be>'s 12... Ke2!! and wins.

SwitchingQuylthulg: We're not so convinced Black is winning here; getting his piece back on the h-file (after ...Qh6 Nh3 Qh7 and ...gxh3), yes, but winning?
Oct-05-08  Karpova: <zanshin> analysed the final position with Rybka 3 and Fruit: crafty chessforum

Mar-16-09  dwavechess: 4/12 concur with rybka 3 at 3 min. per move with rybka.abk book for Salvio
Jul-24-09  just a kid: If Ke7 has been played,White is lost.=)
May-22-11  IRONCASTLEVINAY: NN wanted to open the h-file.
Sep-22-17  Christoforus Polacco: 10.hg4 it was very optimistic.
