tamar: Black Queen looks impressive going to e5 on move 22, but Gashimov systematically takes away all her squares and strands her on g3.
Dec-23-08  Andrew Chapman: Still wasn't obliged to go to e5 at move 25, so far as I can see
Dec-24-08  notyetagm: Wow, what was Mamedyarov thinking this game? The Black e5-queen was not doing anything on e5 but getting herself <TRAPPED>!
Dec-24-08  Davolni: <Wow, what was Mamedyarov thinking this game?>

..."i'm on the 8th place, and 2 more to go, but my fellow countryman and friend is on top, let me give him the extra 0.5 more point rather than a draw, to try to help him and let me move my Q to E5 than g3 and see what happens..."

Dec-24-08  ahmadov: Not a good game by Mamedyarov... In a recent interview he said he was not pleased with 10 out of 11 tournaments he took part last time... I think he needs something to do to return to the previous form... Unfortunately, he will not be among the three winners of the FIDE Grand Prix...

tamar: I don't think Shak threw the game.

Having beaten Gashimov in the past, he lost his sense of danger because he needed a win so badly.

Dec-25-08  Karpova: <At the last, while Gashimov’s enterprise added Radjabov yesterday was a close additional pale charm between countrymen, Gashimov was not mercifully prone opposed Mamedyarov now. Gashimov was outplaying his enemy conceivable the Waxen account of a Richter-Rauzer, nevertheless it was one and only when Grey lost the fanciful mousetrap 30.Nf4-d3 Qe5-g3 31.Nd3-f4, locking happening added anticipation to herd Black’s empress, that the effort was left behind. This brought Gashimov attest to intent a connect concerning crowning with the addition of Grischuk.>
