Aug-06-16  RookFile: I wonder what the circumstances of this game were. It seems that both were happy with a draw here.

  andrewjsacks: Rather curious game.
Oct-27-19  SymphonicKnight: Steinitz and Mackenzie were playing a best-of-7 game match, can and after 5 games Steinitz led 3.5-1.5, and needed only a draw, so that was fine with him. He was also saving the Kf2 and g3 idea for the London Tournament only months later. As for Mackenzie, I can only speculate. Maybe he was tired or I'll or saving his innovations or feeling too beat up. His only win here, which was in the 5th game, had been due to Steinitz blundering in a clearly winning position.
