Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-12-09  luzhin: Vallejo's Queen gets Brkiced in. White's 36th move must have come as a nasty shock. Of course, if 36...Qxe5 37.Nxg6 is decisive.
Mar-12-09  mistreaver: Wow Vallejo Pons one of 2 players over 2700+ pts rating and already 2 loses. This game wasn't anything spectacular white created presure through the f-file and then went on to win in positional style with few tactics in sidelines. Nice play by croatian Ante Brkić. Go ante
Mar-13-09  OnlyBelieve: Well yeah. That's because ratings are a sham. It's true that the best players will be highest in the rankings, but only GENERALLY SPEAKING. I'd be willing to assert that any rating could be 200 points off at any given time as it seems the player could have good days and bad days causing the ratings to swing that much.

BUT ANYWAY

As for this game: True - nothing spectacular. But how could it be with the Giuoco Pianissimo? If one wants fireworks, play Evan's Gambit or the Italian Gambit (w/ or w/o Miami Variation). I'm sure Brkic has his reasons...

Mar-13-09  Shams: <Well yeah. That's because ratings are a sham. It's true that the best players will be highest in the rankings, but only GENERALLY SPEAKING.>

if "the ratings" made any claim at all different than that, they'd be a sham. it's just one piece of information.

Mar-25-09  OnlyBelieve: Maybe so, but people like to make a big deal about them, and that is what I'm referring to.
